Happy New Year! As we kick off another exciting season, we wanted to take a moment to share some wonderful opportunities for you to get involved, make a difference, and help shape our community.
As we all know, the start of the new year is the perfect time for setting goals and resolutions. If you’re looking for a way to give back, grow, and be an essential part of our success this season, we have two equally important paths for you to consider:

Leadership Roles:
Our leadership team plays a crucial role in ensuring we have a smooth, successful season. Whether you're interested in helping with event planning, organizing activities, or supporting our members, there’s a role for you! Your contribution to our leadership team can have a lasting impact on the entire association, creating a positive and engaging experience for everyone. Embarking on a new season requires all of the following roles to be filled by valued volunteers. We are asking parents, friends, relatives, former and 18+ players to consider stepping forward to volunteer for one of these key roles. Outstanding roles include:
- Scheduler (Attend meetings with Zone 9 teams to schedule home and away games. Use last year's template to schedule practices. Share schedules with website/social media coordinator well in advance so that they can be posted.)
- Equipment Manager (Prepare jerseys for distribution. Prepare goalie and trainer equipment for distribution. Track distribution and collect at the end of season.)
- Coaching Convenor/Mentor (Coordinate coach selection process. Offer support and mentorship to coaches)
- Referee-in-Chief (Key contact for refereeing. Be present at Father's Day tournament June 13-15th.)
- Sponsorship and Fundraising Coordinator (Seek out sponsors. Organize and carry out organization-wide fundraiser(s).)
- Photography Coordinator (Organize photo day for teams and players.)
- Timekeeping Coordinator (Coordinate and schedule timekeepers for home games and tournament.)
- Awards and Banquet Organizer (Order awards for year end banquet. Book venue for banquet. Coordinate food for banquet.)
- Marketing and Promotion ( Work with social media manager to promote our organization. Plan and organize marketing to increase our player base.
2. Coaching:
Coaching is an incredibly rewarding way to get involved and make a direct impact on the development and growth of our players. If you have a passion for athletics, mentoring, and fostering teamwork, we’d love to have you join our valued team of coaches. Your time and guidance can inspire and motivate our members to reach their full potential.
We’re excited to announce that our first round of coaching applications for the upcoming season is now open! If you're interested in stepping into a coaching role and helping shape the future of our athletes, please take note of the following important details:
Application Deadline:
- Wednesday, January 15th at 4:00 PM
Interested individuals should complete the attached application form and submit it to [email protected] by the deadline.
Interview Details:
- The executive team will be meeting with all applicants for a brief interview on Wednesday, January 15th, starting at 7:00 PM. Please be prepared for this interview as we aim to finalize our coaching staff as quickly as possible.
Important Timeline Information: We understand the timeline is tight, but we are working to have as many coaches confirmed as possible before the release of tournament details next week. Successful applicants will need to be prepared to register for tournaments immediately after confirmation to ensure their team can attend preferred events.
Coaching Clinic: We are also thrilled to announce that Simcoe Minor Lacrosse Association will be hosting a coaching clinic on April 5th in Simcoe. More details will be shared as we get closer to the date
Both of these opportunities are essential to the growth, development and success of our lacrosse athletes, and we would be thrilled to have you take part in whichever area speaks to you most. We believe that with your support, we can create a very positive season for our players and families as well as grow the game of lacrosse in Norfolk county.
